This class discusses financial elder abuse in the United States, provides a guide for analyzing capacity and red flags of financial elder abuse in the context of real estate transactions.

JOSHUA REAMS
Joshua C.P. Reams is an attorney with The Elder Law Group of Ahrens DeAngeli Law Group LLP. Joshua’s practice is focused on estate planning, asset preservation and long-term care planning for seniors. He received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Northwest Nazarene University and his J.D. degree, summa cum laude, from Willamette University College of Law, where he graduated as Class Valedictorian. During law school, he was a member of the Willamette Law Review and the Moot Court Board receiving the Bruce Spaulding Award for Trial Advocacy and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Award. Joshua clerked for a Salem firm focusing on elder law and business litigation while also externing at Willamette’s Trusts and Estates Clinic and a local estate planning and probate firm.
Joshua is an accredited attorney with the Veterans Administration as well as a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Oregon State Bar (member, Elder Law Section, Estate Planning and Administration Section, and Taxation Section), Idaho Bar Association (member, Taxation, Probate & Trust Law Section), the Boise Estate Planning Committee and currently serves as a Board Member of the Greater Idaho Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Joshua is an avid football fan and enjoys spending time with his wife. When he is not perusing statutes, he is trying to keep up with his two young children and their Labrador, Moose.
